On April 28, 2017 Bennie D. Stevens went to be with the Lord. He was 89 years, 11 months and 22 days of age. Graveside Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 2 PM under the Faulkenberry Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Richard Williams officiating. Bennie's constant smile and sense of humor will be missed by all that knew him. Bennie was born May 8, 1927 and lived in Limestone County his whole life. He owned and operated Steven's Grocery for 40 years that is now owned by his son, Don. He was a Mason for 50 years in the Groesbeck Masonic Lodge #354. He also served in the Army and was stationed in Germany and attended Baylor University. Bennie was an active and lifelong member of the Groesbeck Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Ethel Stevens and one son, David Stevens. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty (Burleson) Stevens of Groesbeck; daughter, Vicki Forrest of Lorena; son, Don Stevens and wife Kim of Groesbeck; sister, Rosemary Osborne of Coolidge; grandchildren, Jeff and Sunnye Forrest of Lorena, Tracy and Jason Thomas of Southlake, Dr. Michael and Amy Stevens of Keller, Curtis and Heather Stevens of Fate, Brittany and Jeff McDowell of Fairfield, Keith Brown of Bremond, Katie and Jason Vincent of Groesbeck; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
