Welton H. Walker, 88, of Groesbeck passed away Saturday May 27, 2017 peacefully at his home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2017 from 6-8PM in the funeral home chapel. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 2PM in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tracy Sims and Bill Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derek Cruz, Casey Bostain, Larry Story, Randy Story, Dale Story, Jon Cooper and honorary pallbearers will be Mark Cruz, Joe Holmes, John White, David Henry, Dennis Henry and Chris Henry. He was born on September 27, 1928 in Donie, Texas to Carlie and Alma Walker, and lived there until he met the love of his life, Pauline Henry Walker in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. Welton worked for the Texas Highway Department before moving to Waco and then to Dallas to work for civil engineering firms. In 1975 he began investing in real estate properties and was successful in the Dallas area. He became a Christian at an early age and was ordained as a deacon at Lost Prairie Baptist Church. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including golfing, fishing, farming and began playing guitar at age 70. He enjoyed playing guitar and bass in several bluegrass bands and for church. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irene Story and Verlon Holmes. Welton is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pauline Walker of Groesbeck, TX; daughter, Carol Bostain and husband Randy of Groesbeck, TX; 3 grandsons, Mark Cruz and wife Lauren of San Francisco, CA, Derek Cruz and wife Jessica of Houston, TX and Casey Bostain of Ferris, TX; 3 great-granddaughters, Ashley, Lillian and Carlie Cruz of Houston, TX and many nieces and nephews.
