Evelyn Thompson, of Groesbeck, passed away at Windsor Healthcare Residence on Monday, September 25, 2017, at age 89. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 29, 2017, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with her grandson, Pastor Joey Magouirk officiating. Burial will follow in Faulkenberry Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, James Mitchel, Billyjack Seymore, Justin Magouirk, Seth Magouirk,Corbin Willett, Jayden Hambrick, Jordan Trousdale, and her son-in-law, Mike Seymore. On April 10, 1928, Evelyn “Adams” Thompson’s season began in this world. She grew up in Thornton, TX., with a somewhat hard childhood that she overcame. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mimmi Alice Jackson Adams and her father, Charlie Franklin Adams; two twin brothers that died at two months, Alvin and Calvin; an older sister, Ruby Pearl Adams, and sister, Cora Corine Adams. Her life further changed on November 1, 1947 when she married the love of her life, J.W. “Shorty” Thompson. They opened several cafes in Groesbeck, The Chuck Wagon and Shorty’s, and were known for the best hamburgers, barbeque, and chili in town. Her husband’s season ended April 16, 1987. This November 1st. would have been 70 years of their marriage. She hung on an extra 30 years after losing J.W. Grandma’s all-time favorite color was yellow, and her favorite thing to do was take pictures and plant flowers. Also, she loved horses and her pet cow, Prissy. Evelyn is survived by her only daughter, Mary Evelyn Willett of Groesbeck; 3 grandchildren: Laurie Ann Seymore and husband Mike, Joey Wayne Magouirk and wife Brittany, and Steven Carl Willett and wife Melissa. There are twelve great grandchildren: James Mitchel, Billyjack Seymore, Heather Williams, Ashley Bodenhofer, Justin Magouirk, Brittany Ann Johnston, Seth Magouirk, Jayden Hambrick, Alsyna Magouirk, and one the way, Destiny Willett and Corbin Willett. The eight great-great grandchildren are: Jordan, Michael, Bradley, Tylorbo, Aiden, Kaden, Mason, and Katerina.
