Wesley Winstead, of Groesbeck, passed away unexpectedly, at his home, on Sunday, October 11, 2009, at age 76. Visitation will be Monday, October 12, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Marquez, with Reverend Eddie Winstead officiating. Burial will follow at the Winn Cemetery near Marquez. Pallbearers will be John Lee Winstead, Orlis Winstead, Jr. Winstead, Josh Lenamond, William Wedgeman, and Henry Wedgeman. Mr. Winstead was born on October 30, 1932, to Evan Winstead and Rendora (Noey) Winstead in Leon County. He grew up and lived most of his life in Marquez. He was married to Louise Copeland at Franklin. He was a farmer all his life. He also worked at the Groesbeck Auction Barn and other local auctions for many years. Wesley loved to sing, especially Blue Grass, and performed at the New Baden Jamboree and at Oletha. He also loved to fish, and take his grand children fishing. He loved to socialize with his large family. His great grandchildren all loved their Paw-Paw. He left this life peacefully in his chair with his pet “Big Dog” in his lap and a smile on his face. He was loved and will be missed by all his family. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Louise, a son Wesley Winstead, Jr., a daughter, Renny Yarborough, and a great grandson, Brenton Lenamond; three brothers, Marvin Winstead and twin brothers John and Sam Winstead; and two sisters, Dellie Curry and Modell Winstead. He is survived by a daughter, Anna McVay of Groesbeck, daughter, LaVaughn Lenamond and husband Jimmy of Groesbeck, son Robert Winstead and wife Denise of Thornton, daughter, Becky Foley and husband James of Thornton, daughter, Freda Lenamond and husband Pee Wee of Groesbeck, daughter, Melody Welker and husband Randy of Groesbeck, son-in-law, Doug Yarborough of Thornton; brother, Evan “Uncle Bib” Winstead of Lake Limestone; and seventeen grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
