LIFE TRIBUTE: A memorial service celebrating Gaby's life will be held Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 1 PM in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Barry Miller officiating. The family is honoring Gaby's wishes to be donated to science. Gaby Jeske was born in Germany in 1933. Her Dad, Gustaf Treger, was in the German Military. Her mother, Nora Jaschke, was a seamstress and hair stylist & ran a salon. She taught Gaby those skills. Gaby came to America with her family and settled in Ohio. She enjoyed working at Bobby Brooks as a seamstress. Later, she was a bartender. She learned to speak english by watching TV Shows, especially “I Love Lucy” & “John Wayne Westerns”. Gaby later moved to Texas with her daughters, Sabine & Britta. She then started her 20+ year Career with Alright Parking as an airport shuttle bus driver in Humble, TX. While there, Gaby made tons off friends who became her 2nd family, including Melissa, Melinda, Marilyn, Stephan Koonce, and David Ansley and many others. Gaby would chat with her friends, part in English & part in German, & they would have to figure it out!! ? -- She also enjoyed visits from Johnny, her Grandson, & 6 Great-Grandkids he brought with him. Gaby later moved back to Germany for a decade to be closer to her German family. She loved walking & bicycling everywhere. She would take many day trips with her friends to nearby towns. Each year, Gaby would make trips back & forth to visit her Texas family (like the “snowbirds” in Florida). She finally moved back to Texas because she loved it so much. She often said “You can take the girl out of Texas but can’t take Texas out of the girl”. One of her great passions was traveling & exploring. There were many camping trips with Allyne across the US. -- Other trips included: Galveston, Corpus Christi, & San Antonio where she loved eating those “SHRIMPS”! And in Las Vegas, she rode an electric scooter down the “Strip”. Gaby, Sabine, & John loved to go fishing, camping, & visiting state parks. She loved animals (especially squirrels & dogs). She loved dancing, shopping & going to garage sales. Gaby loved Country music (Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Conway Twitty, & Elvis Presley). She also adored the German Festival music. Gaby was friendly, outgoing, and loved people. She could go into a room full of strangers & make at least 3 new friends before leaving. She made people smile and feel happy knowing her. She was a great mother to her daughters and friend to all who knew her. She is loved and will be missed greatly.
