Donald Glynn Davis, of Groesbeck, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Providence Hospice in Waco, at age 77. Visitation will be Thursday, October 26, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Groesbeck Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 27, 2017, at Faulkenberry Cemetery. Chaplain Jon Honea, of Groesbeck LMC, will officiate, and will be assisted by Al Harris (a cousin of the deceased.) Don was born February 24, 1940 to William Rasco Davis and Della Fay (Harris) Davis in Groesbeck. He and his twin brother, Ronald attended school in Groesbeck the first two years before the family moved to Waco. In a family with special nicknames, he and his brother called each other by the spelled nicknames of R.O.N. and D.O.N. Don graduated from Waco High, before joining the U. S. Marines. As a Marine, Don served in Okinawa and did some recon in Vietnam during the early period of the Vietnam War. In 1964, he was honorably discharged after serving five years. Don was united in marriage with Linda Lillie Evans on December 11, 1965 in Magnolia. He worked as a parts manager for various Chevrolet dealers in Houston, Hempstead, and Tomball. He and Linda moved to Waco in 1997 and he worked there at Chevrolet dealerships there until retiring in 2004. After he retired, Don and Linda moved to Limestone County, to the family farm on the old Thornton Rd., which had belonged to his grandfather Y.C. Harris. Don enjoyed raising cattle, like his grandfather had done when he was a kid. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Ronald Lynn Davis. He is survived by his wife, Linda Davis of Groesbeck; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Wayne Gerdes of McKinney; son, Donnie Davis of Spring; grandsons, Evan Gerdes, Luke Gerdes and Adam Gerdes of McKinney; and Brayden Davis of Spring; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
