Manuel "June Bug" Cordova, Jr.

Manuel Cordova, Jr., aka “June Bug”, of Coit, passed away suddenly, on Monday, November 9, 2009, at age 62. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 11, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverends Benito Pantoja, Hillario Villareal, Francisco Pineda, and Theodor Balboa officiating. Burial will follow at Kosse City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Diver, T. J. Cordova, Ernest Mushinski, Buck Botello, Eddy Ray Truett, Carlos Smith, Ellis Turrubiarte, Frank V. Cordova, Steve Cordova, and Joel Beck. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be David R. Diver, John Austin McCarver, and John Craddock. Mr. Cordova was born on November 1, 1947, to Manuel L. and Guadalupe (Davila) Cordova in Thornton. He grew up, attended school, and lived all his life in the Kosse and Coit area. Manuel worked for the Limestone County Road and Bridge, and retired after twenty years there. Manuel loved going to Louisiana and Vegas for gambling, and chose to spend his 60th. Birthday in Vegas with his special friend, Deborah. Manuel also loved being together with his family and friends. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, and earlier this year, his brother, Pedro Cordova. He is survived by a sister, Lupe Salas and husband, Ricardo of Kosse; sister, Eva Cordova of Coit; sister, Rosalinda McCarver and husband John of Kosse; sister Eloisa Mushinski and husband Ernest of Bremond; two nieces, Ana Smith and husband Carlos of Huntsville, and Sylvia McCarver of Kosse; nephew, Austin McCarver of Kosse; great-nephews, Brent Smith and Bryce Smith of Huntsville; aunt, Orpha Cordova of Groesbeck; aunt, Esperanza Cordova of Dallas, uncle and aunt, Andrew and Clementina Cordova of Grand Saline; and special friend, Deborah Haynes of Kosse.
