Mary Earl Barnes of Groesbeck passed away Thursday afternoon at Limestone Medical Center following a hard-fought battle with cancer at the age of 82. She was surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be Saturday, November 14, 2009, from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 15, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Groesbeck. Mary Earl was born in Groesbeck on November 13, 1926 to Colbert E. and Leanette Gregory, the middle child of three girls. She was preceded in death by her parents, Colbert and Leanette Gregory, her husband, Huey Barnes, one daughter, Frances Garrett, and one sister, Jodie McLean. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sharon Barnes, daughter, Lea Hardison, and son and daughter-in-law, Greg & Marie Barnes all of Groesbeck and one sister, Frances Bennett of Groesbeck. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Amy Barnes, of Groesbeck, Beth & Thompson Myers, of Groesbeck, Kent & Jennifer Vogel of Wortham, Jennifer & Trey Brooks of Norfolk, Nebraska, Julie Garrett, of Groesbeck, Robbie and Robyn Garrett, of Groesbeck, Tonya and Jason Schumacher, of Benbrook, and Jamie & Tearel Turner, of Saginaw. She has 8 great-grandchildren, Steven Wilks of Huntsville, Barrett & Blaine Myers, of Groesbeck, Hayley Brooks of Norfolk, Nebraska, Holden Garrett, of Groesbeck, Kennedy & Kate Vogel, of Wortham, and Madelyn Schumacher of Benbrook. Pallbearers will be Kent Vogel, Robbie Garrett, Thompson Myers, Trey Brooks, Jason Schumacher, Tearel Turner, Steven Wilks, Barrett Myers, Blaine Myers, Joe McLean, Jon McLean, and Brad Bennett
