Clinton “Clint” McClelland Ramey of Jacksonville, passed away in Tyler on Monday, January 29, 2018, at age 86. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. – with visitation prior to the service starting at 11:00 a.m. – on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Fort Parker Memorial Park. Clint was born March 11, 1931 in Oletha to Vurd Ramey an Lula (Clark) Ramey. He served in the U. S. Army from 1948 through 1952. During his service in Korea, he was injured in a foxhole explosion, and was awarded the Purple Heart. His other awards included Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, and UN Service Medal. After working many jobs during his life and retiring, he continued to work odd jobs in various factories while living in Jacksonville, TX. He also loved to go dancing. It was at a dance at the VFW in Jacksonville that he met Wanda L. McDaniel, and after a year of courtship, they were married on January 21, 1995 in Jacksonville. They continued to live there the rest of his life. Clint was a member of the VFW of Jacksonville, Frankston and Palestine. He really enjoyed spending time taking his boat to Lake Palestine and fishing with friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Clint is survived by his wife, Wanda Lee Ramey of Jacksonville; son and daughter-in-law, Clinton J. and Sheila Ramey of Bay City; stepson, L. C. and wife Joan Malone of Jacksonville; stepdaughter, Dianna and husband Richard Strom of Jacksonville; stepdaughter, Paula Trantham of Winnsboro; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be made to East Texas Hospice.
