“Scooter” Cox passed away Friday February 12, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Temple after a brief illness. Scooter was born and raised in the Old Union community, the eldest son of Alma and Cade Cox. Scooter was a proud veteran of World War II where he served in Germany and England with the 552nd Anit-Aircraft Battalion. He was preceded in death by wife Geneva Perry Cox, brother Eugene (Gene) Cox and sister Doris Helen Cox. Scooter is survived by wife Lorine Kelly, son Kenneth Cox and wife Joey of Groesbeck, brother; Huey and wife Mary Anne Cox of Salado, sister-in-law; Jeannette Cox of Old Union, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families. A memorial service will be held 10 AM Saturday February 20, 2010 a the Old Union church and school. Those interested are asked to bring a covered dish for an old-fashioned fellowship to honor Scooter. We will have music and play some of Scooter’s favorite songs, talk about how he touched our lives and reminisce about the good ol’ days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to local hospice organizations of your choice for all the wonderful things they do for those in their final days of need.
