A Memorial Service is scheduled for Donita Shelton on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 12:30 P.M., at the home of Mike and Pat Moffett, 4123 LCR 750, Lake Limestone. Donita Faye (Booth) Shelton, of Thornton, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at the Windsor Healthcare Residence, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 72 years of age. She was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on December 1, 1937, to Judson Joseph Booth and Guila (Thorne) Booth, both of Murray, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Donita lived much of her youth in the Murray and Afton, Iowa area. After marriage, she resided with her family in the Cromwell and Creston area. In 1979, she moved to Texas, where she lived the remainder of her adult life. Donita worked as an Emergency Room nurse until she retired in 1998. She touched many lives inside and outside of the hospital. All those who knew her loved her gentle, compassionate, and nurturing nature. She always had a loving and healing touch, soothing voice, and warm smile to all she came into contact with. She will be greatly missed by all. Most especially by her children. Donita is survived by her husband, Sammy P. Shelton of Thornton, Texas. Her brothers: Robert Booth and wife Evelyn of Sharpsburg, Iowa, and William booth of Omaha, Neraska. Her children: Lynn Wheeler and husband Mike of Redding, California; Mike Jones of Houston; Marjie Skarda and husband Wes of Afton, Iowa; Eddy and Pat Jones of Creston, Iowa. Her grandchildren: Mick Wheeler of Redding, California; Kaylin Jones of Conroe; Garrett Skarda of Afton, Iowa; and Justin and Jacquee Jones of Houston. Mr. Shelton would like to thank all the caregivers that helped care for Donita during her time of illness.
