Omar Lopez passed away suddenly at his home near Kosse, on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. He was 46. A Rosary and Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Benji Magnage, M.S., (St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mexia) officiating. Omar was born in Holguin, Cuba on October 20, 1963, to Ramon Lopez and Algeciras (Chacon) Lopez. The family moved to the United States in 1969. He attended school in Houston, and then worked in the family business. In 1984, Omar went to Florida to meet Margie, the sister of his friend, after seeing her picture, and he and Margaret (Margie) Knight were married in Florida in 1986. He and Margie moved to their home near Kosse in 1991, where he has lived and ranched. Omar loved fishing, hunting, cooking wild boar that he had trapped, and laughing and having a good time. Omar was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Von Knight-Lopez of Kosse; father and step-mother, Ramon F. and Dora Lopez of Houston; brother, Alfred Lopez of Houston; sister, Ana Lopez of Houston; sister and brother-in-law, Lourdes Lopez and Wadih Abboud of Houston; mother–in-law, Irene Knight of Gulf Breeze, FL; brother-in-law, Scott Knight of Pace, FL; sister-in-law, Sandra and Dale Bush of Pace, FL; and brother-in-law, Matthew Knight of Gulf Breeze, FL.
