Elsie Corine (Gantt) Hall, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Hill Country Care Center in Dripping Springs, at age 85. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Clayton Griggs of the First Baptist Church of Groesbeck officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Hall was born on November 12, 1924 to Walter Gantt and Emma (Walker) Gantt at Farrar, Texas. She grew up on the family farm near Farrar, and attended school at Fair Oaks. After graduation, Elsie and a cousin moved to Houston to look for a job, and she worked the next ten years for Henke and Pilot Grocery (Krogers). In Houston, she met and married Leslie Dorrow Hall on July 3, 1957. The Air Force transferred the family to Rantoul, Illinois, where their son Tony was born. After Mr. Hall retired from the Air Force in 1966, they moved to San Antonio, where she lived until he passed away in 2004. Elsie collected dolls,and enjoyed a beautiful collection she had acquired through the years. She was a member of the Gateway Baptist Church. In 2006, she moved to the Hill Country Care in Dripping Springs. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leslie Hall; and two brothers, Raymond Gantt and Archie Gantt. She is survived by her son, Anthony Wayne “Tony” Hall and wife, Laura of Kyle; two step daughters and their families, Joyce and Lonnie Schwarze of Corpus Christi and Ruth and Bruce Thornton of Alvin; a sister, Agnes Blalock and husband Lester of Groesbeck; sisters-in-law, Wanda Gantt of Mexia and Marceline Gantt of Lake Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Hall wish to express their appreciation to all the caregivers at Hill Country Care in Dripping Springs for the care given their mother, Mrs. Elsie Hall.
