Luther, or “Billy” as he was known to family, was born on March 30, 1935, to John Leroy and Eva Jewel Hensley in Houston. He worked for many years for Alamo Barge Lines as a captain. He loved being around water and after retiring spent most of his time in Galveston. Billy was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, John L. Hensley. He is survived by his younger brother, Albert Gene Hensley; his sister, Christine Custer; and numerous nieces and nephews. As the family is of course grieving his death, they are also comforted to know he didn’t suffer in a pro-longed battle with cancer.
