Thomas Rayford Singletary, of Groesbeck, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010, at his home, at age 95. Visitation will be Monday, May 17, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday May 18, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Clayton Griggs officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Prairie Cemetery. Thomas was born on July 31, 1914, in Alto, TX, to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Singletary, as one of fourteen children. He married Tommie (Little) Sims in Angleton, TX in 1960. He was an operating engineer for Dow Chemical. Thomas served his country in the Texas 36th Division Army Combat Unit during WWII and later became an proud member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by both parents and ten brothers and sisters. He is survived by wife, Tommie Singletary of Groesbeck; sons, Terry Singletary and wife Maxelle of Lake Jackson, TX, Raymond Sims and wife Peggy of Lufkin and Tommy Sims and wife Micky of Groesbeck; grandchildren, Braxton Singletary of Lake Jackson, Cade Singletary of Lake Jackson, David Sims of Groesbeck, Erin Sims of Groesbeck, Raymond Sims of Lufkin, Marcus Sims of Friendswood; brothers and sisters, Louis Beasley of Cushing, TX, Milton Singletary of Rusk, TX and Morris Singletary of Glenrose, TX; and seven great-grandchildren.
