Fern Marie Young

Fern Marie Young formerly of Kosse passed away Friday June 4, 2010 at a nursing home in New Braunfels. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM on Tuesday June 8, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Kosse. Burial will follow at Kosse City Cemetery. Fern was born in Portales, New Mexico on July 9, 1920 to Thomas and Ruby Pearce. She graduated from Crowell High School in Crowell, TX and after moving to San Antonio attended P&S Nursing School and graduated as a Registered Nurse. Fern’s nursing career included Skinner Clinic in San Antonio and M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. Fern married William E. Young, Sr. July 16, 1960 and lived in Bellaire, TX until retiring and moving to Kosse in 1967. While living in Kosse, Fern was an active and loving member of Kosse United Methodist Church. She had a very deep and abiding love of God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Fern moved in Eden Village in New Braunfels in March of 2001. Fern is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ruby Pearce; sisters, Irene Davenport and husband Earl, Claire Ellis and husband Jimmy; loving husband, William E. Young, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Lois Heath and Eslie Stewart, and niece, Kelli Hartmand Davenport. She is survived by son, Tommy Gamble; grandson, Kenley Gamble; step-son, William E. Young, Jr. and wife Jessica; nephews, Monty Davenport and wife Dee Dee, Guy Heath and wife Donna; nieces, Kim Baker and husband Greg and Lawryn Kasper and husband Ed.
