Verlin H. Catron

Verlin H. Catron, formerly of Kosse, passed away on the morning of June 11, 2010, peacefully in his sleep, at the Medina Valley Nursing Home in Castroville. He was 76. Graveside services were held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Mustang Prairie Cemetery near Kosse. Verlin was born on May 6, 1934. He was the last remaining of his family, with his brother, Lonnie and sisters, Ozella and Marie preceding him in death. He married Sieglinde "Linda" Gerda Wiederhold in 1964. He raised four children with Linda. Verlin was a union welder and an army veteran of the Korean War. He and Linda lived all over the United States, particularly Hessville and Medaryville, Indiana, before settling in Kosse, TX. His wife preceded him in death in 2002. "Pepaw" was humorous and a great character. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by the family. He is survived by son, Leo Johnston and his wife Kelly, and their children, Rachelle and Jacob; son, James Johnston and his wife, Lori, and their daughters, Brandy, Tiffany, and Summer; son, David Ketron and his wife, Carol, and sons, Dylan, Nicky, and Kody; and daughter, Anita Prather and her children, Kenny, Ashley, and Heather.
