Linda (Carol) Wilson Lopez

August 19, 1942 — September 5, 2010

Linda (Carol)Wilson Lopez, of Groesbeck, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 5, 2010, at age 68. Visitation will be Thursday, September 9, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Nathaniel Bedford, of the Lone Star Baptist Church officiating. Linda was born in Greenville, South Carolina to Willie Walter Wilson and Zelia Mae Mattison Wilson on August 19, 1942. In 1978, Linda and her family of 6 children moved to Groesbeck. Linda was a loving mother who raised six children with an unconditional love that only a mother can give. Three children were brought in for her love and care through marriage, and three were given to her by our Lord. Devoted to caring for people, Linda ventured into the career of nursing at Marlin Vocational School of Nursing in 1982. She was dedicated to her profession for 27 years, touching the lives of many and sharing her knowledge with others. She was a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church in Groesbeck. Although there were times when her work schedule created conflict with attending services, Linda remained faithful to Christ. Before her health began to decline, Linda enjoyed gardening, crafts of all genres, crochet, and music. Family was very important to Linda. In fact, she preferred to be with family, more than anywhere else. She enjoyed family gatherings where “the more the merrier” was her motto, said with a smile. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Ray Carter of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Ruben Williams of Austin; and daughter, Amy Williams of Groesbeck; stepson, Doug Stanton of Lindel; stepson, Steve Stanton and wife Niela of Denison; stepdaughter, Tina Lopez and husband Hector of Mexia; eleven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her only brother, Sam Wilson of South Carolina; and a host of friends and loved ones.
