Bobbie Lee Thompson, of the Farrar community, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at the Park Plaza Nursing Home in Mart, following a brief illness, at age 80. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 Noon before the services. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 17, 2010, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Fred Sain officiating. Burial will follow at the New Hope Cemetery. Bobbie was born June 7, 1930 in Houston, Texas to William Lee Yielding and Dovie Jewell (Lampier) Yielding. She grew up in the Freestone Community and attended school in Teague. She married Robert (Bill) Thompson in 1949, and they had been married 54 years when he passed away in 2003. Bobbie spent her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, and loved being with her family. Thanksgiving and Christmas were special to her, with large family get-togethers. In their younger days, she and her husband enjoyed many motor home trips, traveling to Alaska several times, and especially her favorite place to visit, which was Colorado. In her later years, she enjoyed working on crossword puzzels, reading, and discussing the weather. She was a member of the Farrar Baptist Church. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, in 2003; two daughters, Rebecca Thompson and Sondra Thompson; and a brother, James Melvin (Sonny) Yielding. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara J. and Jerry Bass of Mart; a son and daughter-in-law, William M. (Bill) and Karen Thompson of Pittsburg, TX; and five grandchildren, Brian Bass, Robin Bass, Sara Bass, Jason Thompson, Corey Thompson and wife Katie.
