Sue was born on March 30, 1939, at Hearne, Texas, to James Odell Jarvis and Sibyl Audie Pate Jarvis. She grew up in Dallas, where she lived and worked after high school, and began her career in bookkeeping and accounting. In 1970, Sue moved to Groesbeck to be near her mother. She took courses at Navarro College and enjoyed oil painting in her spare time. She especially loved the works of Thomas Kinkade. While living in Groesbeck, she also taught her friend, Morris Nettles to paint with oils. Life then led Sue to a move to the Coast area for some time. In 1989, Sue moved to Nashville, Tennessee to be near her daughter. She was the personal accountant for Country Music Legend, Randy Travis, for five years, and she opened her own business as an accountant. She especially enjoyed helping new entertainers get set up properly. While in Nashville, she met many performers and entertained her family and friends with trips to the Grand Ole Opry, where she had full access behind stage. In 1999, Sue moved back to Groesbeck to be with the love of her life, Morris. Sue and Morris were united in marriage on December 31, 1999. They had happy years together at Lake Limestone. They enjoyed quilting together, and Sue loved growing flowers in their yard. Starting from a stray dog that adopted them, they also bred and raised CKC Chihuahua dogs, with their speciality being “Miniature Deer Chihuahua”. Their beloved Queenie was the matriach of the group. Sue, along with Morris, was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star #810 in Groesbeck, and a member of the Groesbeck Church of Christ. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, May Bell Nettles Hudson; and her daughter, Carla Sue Gilbert, who passed away on October 2, 2002.
