Verneice Beaty, of Kosse, passed away in Bryan on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at age 75. In accordance with Ms. Beaty’s wishes and prior plans, she will be buried at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Ebenezer Cemetery near Kosse. Verniece was born November 7, 1935, to Homer and Myrtis Beaty in Pelly, Texas. She worked in the Houston area for a chemical company, and later as a rural mail carrier. While living in Houston, she raised and showed Arabian horses and Japanese Chin dogs, taking her animals to many shows all over. When she retired, she chose rural Kosse as a new home, and established the goat business on her “Bare Acres” farm. She was a tough and independent lady who could do whatever she determined to do, but was very tenderhearted toward her animals, and found it hard to part with them when it was time to sell them. She was a member of the South Central Texas Goat Association, and made friends through her association with others in the goat business. Ms. Beaty is survived by a nephew Rusty Tanner and his wife Paula of Pearland, and friends who cherished her.
