Alma Farley

May 23, 1926 — February 10, 2025

Groesbeck

Alma Montgomery Farley passed away at Groesbeck LTC on Monday, February 10, 2025, at age 98.

She will be interred, with a private family service, in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Houston where her husband, Chester Farley is buried.

Alma was born May 23, 1926, to Edgar Montgomery and Rachel Pearl Atkinson Montgomery in Middletown, Ohio, where she grew up.

After son, Terry was born, they moved to Houston, Texas. Alma worked at Texas Instruments in Houston doing data entry, and moved from downtown Houston to a home the family built in Huffman. She lived in Huffman on Lake Houston for many years, where she loved to water ski. She also loved dressing up for ballroom dancing. She was a member of the garden club in Huffman and a member of the Huffman Methodist Church.

After her retirement, she volunteered for several years at Northeast Medical Center in Humble. Alma was an extremely active lady during her lifetime, and if told she could not do something she proved that she could. Along with her other activities, she was an artist and enjoyed painting, ceramics, and sewing. At one time, she worked at Hancock Fabrics and made clothing for the mannequins as well as clothes for the grandchildren. She was a beautiful lady, and she made many friends everywhere she was, and everyone loved her.

Alma moved to Florida where son Roger lived in 2015 and after several years moved back to Texas where son Terry lived and eventually to Thornton where Sherry lived. Covid slowed down her activities a great deal and she resided in Groesbeck LTC the last three years.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings; son-in-law, Michael Moriarity and daughter, Jan Darlene Moriarity; and her previous husbands.

She is survived by son, Roger Alan Frederick and wife Diane; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Sandra Barnett of Cleveland; daughter, Sheryl Davis of Thornton; grandchildren: Kelly Fettergill, Kristan Clark, Kendra Frederick, Sara Michelle Barnett, Natalie Marie Barnett, Sean Patrick Barnett, and Michael Moriarity, Jr., and also great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Harvey of Clearlake, TX and brother, Sterling Montgomery of Livingston, TX.
