Betty Jean Sims (Hastings) died August 13, 2024, at the age of 96, in San Antonio, Texas. 

Betty was born November 30, 1927 in Carbon, Texas, to Clarence and Nina Hastings. Betty graduated from Carbon High School and received an associate’s degree from Tarleton State College. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Alma Jo. She was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Warner B. Sims. Betty and Warner were married for 50 years, and spent most of their working lives in Lubbock, Texas where they worked in the Lubbock Independent School District, before retiring to Groesbeck, Texas. 

Loving mother of Philip (Nancy), and Sharon (Mark). Adoring grandmother of Lauren (Peter), Katherine (Caleb), Shannon (Sam), Maegan (Paul), and Jordan (Rachel), and great grandchildren Lucas, James Philip, Janie, Emma Kate, John Caleb, Foster, Logan, and Amelia. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Lost Prairie Cemetery in Limestone County, Texas, with lunch reception to follow at Lost Prairie Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lost Prairie Cemetery Association, 562 LCR 421, Groesbeck, TX 76642.
