Bobbie was born April 16, 1929, in Marlin, to Robert Erskine and Tennie Lou (Hammond) Erskine. She grew up in the Odds Community until the family moved to Marlin, where she attended school until graduation.
Bobbie moved to Dallas where she attended business school. While in Dallas she met her future husband, Clint Muhlinghause from Gladewater.
Bobbie and Clint were united in marriage and began a long number of years moving to various towns in South and West Texas with his work in the oil field, with their daughter, Melanie born while they were in Lamesa and son, Wayne born two years later in Sweetwater. When Melanie was in the second grade, Clint and Bobbie bought the Western Auto store in Bridgeport, TX. where they lived for the next thirteen years until selling the store.
In 1974, Bobbie and Clint moved to her family farm in the Odds community, near Thornton, and were blessed to have Melanie and her husband Tom and their three sons living within two miles for 45 years. She was a wonderful grandmother and a great blessing in helping raise the three Lockwood boys while Melanie worked in Temple as a nurse and Tom was gone much of the time in his business.
Bobbie had many good friends and was a member of the Groesbeck Study Club and the Garden Club. She loved flowers and houseplants which she would nuture and re-pot to share with friends. She “fed the grasshoppers” abundantly with all her flowers. She was a devoted member of the First Methodist Church of Groesbeck.
Bobbie was interested in her family genealogy, researching her Erskine relatives who moved from Arkansas to the Stranger area. She also did research in helping obtain a historical marker for the Odds community.
Bobbie was a loving mother and grandmother, and in addition to her sweet smile, she was the kindest, gentlest person, giving and sharing with her time and resources, and provided motivation through her life for her family to try to live up to her example.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, C. E. Muhlinghause; sister, Tennie Webster; and a son, Wayne Muhlinghuase in 2017.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Tom Lockwood of Thornton; grandson, Jason Lockwood of Thornton; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Barrett and Brandi Lockwood of Weatherford; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Trent and Lerin Lockwood of Burnet; four great grandchildren, Kinley Lockwood, Bowie Lockwood, Harper Lockwood, and Thorn Lockwood; and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
