Bobby Lee Grimes, of Van Alstyne, passed away at home on Monday, June 7, 2021, at age 93.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021, at the Pavilion at Fort Parker Memorial Park, Groesbeck, with his son, Jimmy Grimes officiating.
Bobby was born in Groesbeck on October 27, 1927 to Alvor Grimes and Pansey Polk Grimes. He grew up in Groesbeck and graduated from Groesbeck High School and attended Baylor University.
He served in the U. S. Army from 1944 through 1946 in South Korea, where he repaired and maintained small arms.
Bobby was united in marriage with Mary Aleen Franks on January 16, 1955 in Beaumont. They lived in Beaumont before moving to the North Central Texas area. He worked for Mobil Oil in management as a computer analyst and retired after 36 years in 1988.
After his retirement, they moved to Diboll, with a home on the golf course. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and golf. He was a loving husband and father and loved all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved the Lord and was always active in his church.
Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joe Bob Grimes; his sister, Irma Ruth Cromley; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Marie Grimes.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Aleen Grimes; three sons and daughters-in-law: Brad and Sharon Grimes of Kerrville, Jimmy and Eileen of Van Alstyne, and David and Cheryl Grimes of Rowlett; and also eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors in memory of Bobby Lee Grimes.
