Brenda Janette Gullens

November 14, 1967 — March 14, 2021

Brenda Janette (Foley) Gullens, of Groesbeck, passed away at Limestone Medical Center on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at age 53.

Brenda was born November 14, 1967 to Marvin Lee Foley and Shirley Maxine (Starnes) Foley in Dallas.    While her father was in the military, Brenda grew up living in many different towns and countries, including Dallas, Germany, Mexico and others.   She attended school some in Groesbeck and graduated from Mexia High School in 1984, and then attended Navarro Jr. College.

Brenda became a mother, raising her daughter Angela, and she worked as a cosmetologist for a while.   Her family grew to include another daughter and a son.  Brenda moved from Mexia to Killeen, where she lived until the last three years, and then moved back to Groesbeck.   Fishing was one of the things she enjoyed.  Sweet tea with lots of ice was a daily requirement for Brenda.  She was a person who was always “there” for other people, and her children’s friends considered her as a Mom.

Brenda’s life was hampered with COPD and severe heart attacks in the past few years, and the need for continuous oxygen.   However, she was able to enjoy being out shopping with her Mom and two of her children on Sunday, noticing the redbuds in bloom on the return trip from Mexia, before her unexpected final last breath a short time later that day.

She is survived by her parents, Marvin and Shirley Foley of Groesbeck; daughter, Angela Foley Richardson of Killeen; daughter, Alea Kay Gullens of Groesbeck; son, Jonathan Carl Gullens of Groesbeck; granddaughter, CeAnna Stephenson of Killeen; and a brother, Ricky Lynn Foley of Mexia; as well as other extended family.
