Carl Burnis (Bill) Sadler, III, more commonly known as "Bill" was born August 21, 1948 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas. He was not only welcomed by his parents, Carl Burnis Sadler, Jr. and Bettye Maude Priddy Sadler but also by three living grandparents; Sudie Lee Black Priddy, Lena Mae Roberts Sadler, and Carl Burnis Sadler, Sr. who would help shape and mold his life in a loving positive way.Bill was reared in a Christian home and became a member of the First Methodist Church in Groesbeck at an early age by affirmation of faith. He served as one of the church organist for many years beginning at the age of thirteen. Later after marrying Linda Stewart and his son Bill David was born, Bill was baptized by his close friend and neighbor, Brother Malcolm Smith on Monday afternoon September 9, 1974 and became a member of the Groesbeck Church of Christ. Bill continued to use his musical talent to play piano or organ at funerals and weddings and also community activities such as the "Red Stocking Follies".Bill attended all twelve grades in Groesbeck Public Schools starting first grade in 1954 and graduating valedictorian of the class of 1966. He received his higher education of Sam Houston State University. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in math and science in May 1969 with a permanent Texas Teaching certificate. His first position in the fall of 1969 was in Dawson ISD where he served as high school mathematics teacher and elementary principal. Bill became elementary principal in Groesbeck ISD in November 1971 and served in that capacity until May 1979 when he resigned to help his father in ranching interest and developing properties on Lake Limestone. He received his Masters Degree in Education in May 1972 and all levels administrator's certificate from TEA in May 1973.Bill and Linda were blessed with two children: a son, Bill David Sadler, in 1972 and a daughter, Sandie LeAnne Sadler in 1977. Bill and Linda also have four precious grandchildren; Bill David and wife Melody are the parents of Blane David Sadler and Ava Claire Sadler; and daughter Sandie is the mother of Zane Alan Baize and Emma Kate Baize.Bill was president of the First National Bank of Groesbeck from January 1, 1983 until retirement on April 30, 2008. He continued to serve on the Board of Directors until the bank was purchased by Citizens State Bank of Buffalo on October 1, 2016. Throughout his life Bill remained active in various civic and community organizations.
