Charles 'Herman' Stoddard, 83, beloved father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly at home on October 23, 2021.
Herman was born in Garrison, Texas, on December 30, 1937, to A.B. and Charlsye (Hartt) Stoddard. He attended school in Garrison where he played football, baseball and basketball, and was heavily involved in Boy Scouts and FFA. He was married to Annette (Wragg) Stoddard for 59 years, prior to her death on October 24, 2014.
Herman graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University and spent his early career as a high school agricultural teacher in Center Texas. He spent the remainder of his career at the USDA Farm Services Agency as an Agricultural Program Specialist and District Director.
After retiring from the State office in College Station, TX, in 1996, he and Annette moved to their home on Lake Limestone, TX. There they hosted many great family and neighbor gatherings, and loved their life on the lake. He became known as the neighborhood 'go-to man' for anything someone needed because of his vast knowledge and willingness to help. His memory, knowledge and attention to detail were extraordinary. He never met a stranger and loved talking to anyone.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, his young sister, Dana, his beloved wife, Annette, and son, Charles, Jr.
He is survived by daughter, Teresa Stoddard, of Lake Limestone, and son, Mark Stoddard and his wife, Linda, of Bryan, TX. He is also survived by granddaughters, Lane and husband Cody Krenek of College Station, and Lara Stoddard, also of College Station. His brothers, Alfred Stoddard and wife Mildred, of Huntington, and Marion Stoddard and wife, Judy, of Garrison, also survive him.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial gift may be made in his name to the charitable organization of your choice.
