Connie Lee (Hastings) Kight, who has lived in Groesbeck the past few years, passed away at her home with her husband, daughter, and mother by her side on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at age 58.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Brothers Clif Fox and Richard Williams of the Church of Christ of Groesbeck officiating. Burial will follow in Cox Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Kight, Ricky Clark, Dustin Kirkland, John Alderson, Elliot Lee, and Wade Armstrong.
Connie was born June 5, 1965, in Houston, to Tommie Lee Hastings and Bessie Marie Hastings. She grew up in Galena Park, where she graduated from high school.
Connie was united in marriage with Bubba Kight in March 1994 in Pasadena. Due to the travel involved in Bubba’s work, they lived in many different places during their fantastic twenty-nine years together, raising a daughter and a son.
Connie helped Bubba find a Mustang convertible, and oh the joy she had riding in it with the top down, letting her hair blow in the wind, and calling her mom to show her what a good time she was having. The smile on her face was worth a thousand words.
Connie loved baseball and was her son Jeremy’s coach from T-ball all the way up, with his team traveling to different states in baseball tournaments. Connie was a friendly and “happy-go-lucky” lady, best described as a social butterfly. She and Bubba moved to Groesbeck about four years ago to be near her mother as Connie’s health problems increased.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, Tommie Lee Hastings.
She is survived by her husband, Bubba Kight; daughter, Karen Harvey and her friend, James Lee of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Mackenzie Kight of Nevada; grandchildren, Wade Armstrong, Zoe Harvey and Cody Harvey; her mother, Bessie Hastings of Groesbeck; brother, Tommie Hastings, Jr.; sisters, Rhonda Whitehead and Donna Carter and husband Jimmy; nieces and nephews, and other extended family.
