Donald Earl Edward Davis

Donald Earl Edward Davis of Groesbeck passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 at Dallas Methodist Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Big Hill Cemetery with Pastor Paul Rains officiating.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Davis, Logan Walton, Chuck Decanter and Michael Walton. 

Don was born May 6, 1957 in Oakdale, LA to Earl and Rita Vidrine Davis.  He grew up in Oakdale and graduated from high school in the Class of 1975.  After high school Don continued his education and football career at LSU and after deciding the campus was too big and crowded he transferred to McNeese University. 

Don met the love of his life in 1978 and married Sandra Smith in Lomax, Texas starting their 41 years of marriage.  Of that union, they had three children.  Don had a passion for silhouette competition shooting and hunting. He was an avid cook, loved to dance and was a practical joker to his kids and later his grandchildren of which he loved unconditionally.  Don’s greatest achievement was being a Papa to his “grandbabies”. 

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cynthia Fueslier and niece, Traci Downing.

Don is surivived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra Davis of Groesbeck; son, Phillip Davis and wife Sharnea of Lorena; daughters, Ashley and husband Michael Walton of Groesbeck and Jena and husband Chuck DeCanter of Tyler; grandchildren, Logan Walton, Jayde Davis, Kennedy DeCanter, Janay Davis, Kynlee Walton, Phillip Davis, Jr. and Reagan “shortcake” DeCanter.
