Edward Keytron Duncan, Jr.

Edward Keytron “Ed” Duncan, Jr. of Tampa, Florida passed away at Scott and White Hospital in Temple on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at age 79.   He had living in Groesbeck the past four years to be near his sister, Sarah McReynolds.

Edward was born May 21, 1940 to Edward Keytron Duncan and Ina Lowless Vandergriff Duncan in Chattanooga, TN.   The family lived in various states and countries while he was growing up.   He attended Auburn University in Alabama.

Ed served in the U. S. Marines for four years, and following his service he moved to Tampa and became a traffic engineer for the City of Tampa for forty years.   He began work painting strips on roads and outlets, and worked up to being an engineer performing traffic control at major events in Tampa.   For all special events, he worked closely with the police, managing the traffic from a helicopter.

He married Letha Heckman who he had met while they both worked for the City of Tampa.   She preceded him in death in 2013.  Ed has been interred alongside his wife in Sunset Memory Gardens in Thonotosassa, Florida. 

Ed liked gardening and music and playing poker on his computer.  After losing his wife and his health failing, he moved to Groesbeck four years ago to be near his sister, Sarah McReynolds.

Ed is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Virgil Goetz of Bettendorf, Iowa and Sarah and Brad McReynolds of Groesbeck, Texas; nephew, Brian Goetz of Bettendorf, IA and niece, Sharon Goetz of Japan.
