Elvin Marvin Morehead, of Kosse, passed away at Scott and White Hospital in Temple on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at age 64.
Visitation will be held in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 1:30 -3:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel with Paul Fields officiating.
Elvin was born August 29, 1955 to Cam and Irene Morehead in Hearne, where he grew up and attended school.
Elvin met his future wife Kathy while visiting his brother Roy in Kosse. When Kathy first saw him in his red Torino, she was 13, and said then she was going to marry him. She met him that year at a party at her sister Judy’s house and their first date was on Halloween. They continued to date the next three years until she was 16.
Elvin was united in marriage with Kathy Wright in Kosse on May 7, 1976 and they lived there three years. Elvin worked at Dugan Trailer in Groesbeck and then at Fields Custom Interiors. The family moved to Hearne in 1980 and he worked as a mechanic at City Auto Parts in Hearne until he retired in 2000. They moved back to Kosse around 2011.
In his younger years he had raised vegetable gardens, but he always enjoyed yard work. Roses were his passion, especially yellow roses, and he grew many of them in pots on his deck. Elvin was a good carpenter and built decks and did home improvement work for family. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, through out good years and bad, and took all the games very seriously.
Elvin was a quiet and very private person. Many people in Kosse probably never saw him as he sat on his deck surrounded by a wooden fence, unless he was mowing the front yard. However, his family was very important to him.
Elvin was preceded in death by his parents; sister Viola Morehead Sims; and brothers, Cam, Roy, David and Buck Morehead.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy Morehead of Kosse; son, Chad Morehead; daughter, Stephani Marshall; grandchildren: Kyle, Lex, Lana, Lane, Luca, Leo, Aurora, Riker, and Corbin; great granddaughter, Leesa Marie; sister, Sherry Brinkman; and many nieces and nephews and other extended family.
