Frank Arthur Brower

October 16, 1946 — March 30, 2023

Thornton

Frank Arthur Brower, of Thornton, went home to God, after a brief time in the hospital at Groesbeck and Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco, on Thursday,  March 30, 2023, at age 76.

A Memorial Service will be held at the family home at a later date.

Frank was born October 16, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, the only child of Frank C. and Evalina Brower.  He grew up there, went to school there, and worked various jobs with computers, taxi driving, pizza and Chinese food businesses, until he decided to attend night school to earn his GED.  He was so impressed with the immigrants who were in his classes and their fight  to learn, that he would later say they made him ashamed of his wasted opportunities and so he decided to buckle down and complete his GED to made a better life.

Frank heard of openings in the New York City Police Department and enrolled in the Police Academy to become an officer.  He served on NYPD force for twenty years until he was injured on the job.   Although disabled to serve as a police officer, Frank continued to use his natural skills working on automotive repairs.

On a family trip to New Mexico, Frank liked the area and decided to move there. Frank eventually settled in the Mart, Texas area where he raised goats.  A friend who raised goats in Lampasas introduced him to their mutual friend, Dorothea and they had an initial long meeting and conversation in Waco.

Frank and Dorothea were married October 16, 2000 in the Lutheran Church in Mart, and they made their home there, with her three children becoming his family as well.    Frank raised his goats and Dorothea added cattle to their ranch.  He was a life-time member of the Dairy Goats Association.  They were both contented with their Texas life and relocated to a rural home between Kosse and Thornton.   They enjoyed sitting on the porch together and watching the sunsets, or rain, and the changes in the seasons.

Frank is survived by his wife, Dorothea Brower of Thornton and her children:  son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Viola Cox; son and daughter-in-law Monte and Kathy Cox; and daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Derrick Hollowell and their 2 daughters and a granddaughter; also a family friend, Nelson Nutt; their dogs and their animal herd.
