Iris June Catron Matchett of Kosse, Texas was ushered into the gates of Heaven by her family Sunday Morning, May 23, 2021 at age 82.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Trinity Full Gospel Fellowship, 4555 Hwy. 14, Thornton, TX 76687.
Iris June Catron was born in Conroe, Texas on August 23, 1938 to Frances Earl and Ethel Vale Catron.
Iris met the love of her life Glenn Matchett on September 10, 1953, when he came home on leave from the U. S. Navy. Iris and Glenn got engaged on June 14, 1954 and married on March 15, 1955. They had 3 wonderful children whom they devoted their life to and adored.
After marriage, Iris and Glenn began their lives in Duson, Louisiana. In 1970 Iris and Glenn moved the family to Sealy, TX, where they made a home, raised their children, and developed many lifelong friendships. On Mother’s Day of 1970, she attended church and with her husband Glenn, became a born-again Christian.
In 1979 Iris and Glenn moved to Kosse, Texas and began working on their new business adventure. In January 1979, the doors to Matchett’s Personal Care Home were opened. Over the next 30 years, countless numbers of disabled Veterans were cared for in their home. After many years of service to disabled Veterans, Iris and Glenn decided to retire for the last time and closed the Matchett Personal Care Home and devoted all their time to Church, Family and Friends.
Iris faithfully served and loved the Lord for the remainder of her life. She served as church secretary at First Assembly of God in Thornton, TX for several decades.
After the passing of Glenn in June 2020, Iris continued to live with her loving Daughter, Glenda Vale Matchett in Plano, Texas
On Sunday May 23, 2021, Iris was called home to be with her Lord. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Iris was proceeded in death by her Father, Frances Earl Catron, Mother, Ethel Vale Catron, Her loving Husband, Buford Glenn Matchett, Brother Edward Catron, Sister-in- law, Mary Catron, Sister, Ilene Catron Shropshire, brother-in-law, Grady Shropshire, brother-in- law, Donald Hampton and her younger sister, Francis Ann Catron.
Iris is survived by her eldest son, James Earl Matchett and wife Yvonne; her only daughter, Glenda Vale Matchett; her youngest son, Bradley Glenn Matchett; and her sister, Norma Catron Hampton.
Grandchildren Jack Matchett and wife Kim, Joey Harris, Brandon Matchett and wife Larissa, Justin Matchett, Hannah Skinner and husband Austin.
Great Grandchildren. Thomas Matchett, Jackson Matchett, Emily Matchett, Braxton Harris, Baileigh Harris, Emma Matchett, Madi Whigham, Zaylie Matchett and Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, and Great Nephews whom she loved so much.
