Irma Joyce Johnson

Irma Joyce (Hopper) Johnson passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at home surrounded by loved ones.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2021, from 6:00 - 10:00 P.M. in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 26, 2021 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Eldon “Bubba” Alfred officiating.   Burial will follow at Mustang Prairie Cemetery in Kosse, Tx.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Lara, Dale Denton, Manuel Duran, Marc Gonzalez, Alex Lara, Kevin Jumper, and Matt Selph.

Irma Joyce was born on June 30, 1946 in Aztec, New Mexico to proud parents Verdie Viola (Lane) Hopper and Julian Delmas Hopper.

Joyce married the love of her life, Joe F. Johnson on June 30, 1962 and they made their home in Houston, Tx, raising their family before retiring to Kosse, Tx in 1998.

Joyce spent her life as a homemaker raising her family. She worked years at Sheldon ISD in the cafeteria and as a bus driver, obtained her cosmetology license and worked as a beautician.

She was preceded in death by parents, Verdie Viola and Julian Delmas Hopper; and four brothers, Clarence Leon Hopper, Edward Earl Hopper, Kenneth Delmas Hopper and James Leroy Hopper.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joe F. Johnson of Kosse; daughters Rhonda Joyce Lara and husband Jerry of Houston, Karen Renee Denton and husband Dale of Houston, and Deanna Jo Duran and husband Manuel of Kosse; nine adoring grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, George Lee Hopper of Jasper, AL and Olan David Hopper of Flora Vista, NM; and a host of family and friends.
