On the tranquil evening of September 9, 2023, in Groesbeck, Texas, James peacefully departed this world. Groesbeck held a special place in his heart, as it was there that he and his beloved wife of 41 years, Edie Foster, chose to build their life together.
James's legacy transcended his professional achievements. He stood as the proud patriarch of Foster Farms, a cattle company nestled near Box Church, TX, just beyond the borders of Groesbeck. Under his guidance, his son, James Jr, and granddaughter, Charli Foster, assumed the reins of this family-owned enterprise. Foster Farms distinguished itself as a leader in the American regenerative agriculture industry. This was a testament to James's unwavering commitment to quality and his fervent desire to regenerate both his environment and community.
James's love and devotion radiated through his family. He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Tim and Michelle Foster, who call Jourdanton, Texas, their home and James Foster, Jr. and his daughter Charlie Foster, which reside in Groesbeck. His daughter, Ida, and her husband, Robin Gambrel, have found their abode in New Braunfels, Texas. It is in the broader New Braunfels area that many of his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren have made their mark. Theron and Yvette Gambrel, with their three daughters Paisley, Aneyra, and McKenzie. Ryan Gambrell, his sister Cassandra with her husband Ronny Bisceglia and their sons Jayden, and Landon, embody the continuation of James's enduring legacy.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was known for his countless hours of volunteer work and his steadfast dedication to the Masonic lodge for over 46 years. He was a member of Groesbeck Lodge #354 and Thornton Lodge #486. His impact reverberated through his family, friends, church, community, and the industries he faithfully served for nearly 8 decades. James Bruce Foster Sr will be remembered with deep love and profound gratitude, and his indomitable spirit will persist through the generations he touched. His memory will forever leave an enduring mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Bill Sutton, of the Oletha Baptist Church officiating and Masonic Rites by Groesbeck Masonic Lodge #354.
