Jerry Lynn Breeland, of Groesbeck and formerly of Channelview and Houston, passed away at Providence Hospital in Waco on Monday, June 7, 2021 at age 65.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Groesbeck Funeral Home.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jon Honea officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Parker Memorial Park.
Lynn was born January 26, 1956 in Jena, Louisiana to G.T. Breeland and Edith Tullar, and was raised from a very early age by his step-father, Pappy Tullar. He grew up in Channelview and attended school at North Shore.
Lynn was a heavy equipment operator from a young age throughout his life in the Houston area, and really enjoyed that work.
He enjoyed playing the guitar all his life. When he was young, his grandfather taught him how to play, and as he learned each new chord, he ran down the street to his best friend, Calvin Cox and taught the same to him. Calvin was like a brother, and later in their teens, Lynn and Calvin had a band and played at the local VFW.
He was awesome at woodwork, which he had learned from working with his grandfather as a boy. He also worked some as a carpenter, but he especially enjoyed making furniture and other items, including cedar chests from a tree he cut down and sliced, and also jewelry boxes and other items such as squirrel feeders. The family will have these items he made to treasure with their memory of Lynn.
Lynn also liked fishing and had enjoyed visiting his sister, Judy at Groesbeck. About five years ago, he and his Mom and son Raymond moved to Groesbeck.
Lynn was preceded in death by his father and his step-father.
He is survived by his mother, Edith Tullar of Groesbeck; sons, Raymond Breeland of Groesbeck and Jason Breeland of Louisiana; 2 grandchildren; brother, Wayne Breeland of Kansas; brother, Leonard Arter of Houston; sister, Judy Lofton of Groesbeck; uncle and aunt, Elton and Mary Cox of Fairfield; and many nieces, nephews and other family.
