Joe Carrelle Pennington, 78, of Thornton, Texas, passed away on May 20, 2022, at Providence Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 11, 1943, in Spring, Texas to Roy Sam and Ruby Dunn Pennington. He was the eighth born of ten children, with six brothers and three sisters.
Joe and Diana "Gayle" Walton Pennington began their loving life in 1961 in Spring, Texas. They were joined in marriage on June 20, 1964. He spent, one month to the day, shy of 58 years of marriage to the love of his life, Gayle. They welcomed their first daughter, Teresa Gayle Pennington in February 1965, their son Heath Bradley Pennington in November 1967, and their second daughter Lisa Michelle Pennington in March 1971.
In 1976, they brought their family of five to Oletha, Texas, where Joe began a 45+ year career in custom home building, construction, and carpentry, to include Pennington Construction—later named Custom Craft Builders—and other custom projects and endeavors. He retired in Thornton, Texas, with his wife Gayle, where they enjoyed the company of many life-long friends, family members and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceeded in death by his son Heath Bradley Pennington; his parents Roy Sam and Ruby Dunn Pennington; brothers and sisters—Leemon Pennington, Elma Brzymialkiewicz, Raymond Pennington, Ruby Belke, Cecil Ray Pennington, Billy Pennington, Dean Pennington, and Tony Pennington; along with other beloved nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Pennington of Thornton, sister Wanda Lee Bielamowicz and husband Billy of Willis; daughter Teresa Theiss and husband Boyson of Thornton; daughter Lisa Ingram and husband James of Kosse; Grandchildren and great-Grandchildren: Paden Theiss and Chrashel and their children Cain and Rilee of Thornton; Angel Green and husband Keith and their children Brintley and Hesston of Franklin; Shelby Condon and husband Ryan and their children Wyatt and Carlea of Mexia; Blake Theiss and wife Amanda of Thornton; Cody Ingram and Shaye and their children Cooper and Avery of Kosse; and Josh Ingram of Kosse; along with many other beloved nieces/nephews and great-nieces/great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm, at the Central Baptist Church of Thornton. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to the Central Baptist Church of Thornton, in memory of Joe Pennington.
