Josie May Plummer of Groesbeck passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at Limestone Medical Center.
Graveside services will be at 10 AM on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Faulkenberry Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Tracy Sims officiating.
Josie was born June 27, 1933 in Thornton to William Thomas and Vera (Bassett) Beard. She grew up in Groesbeck and attended Groesbeck schools where she was a Majorette during her high school years and graduated in the Class of 1951. After graduation she met and married Koochie Plummer on May 28, 1957 in Groesbeck. They were married for 37 years until his death in September 1994.
Josie and Koochie enjoyed traveling and took trips around the world to include Hawaii and Spain. They also enjoyed playing sports with friends. Josie worked for the USDA in Groesbeck for 37 years before retiring in October, 1994. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling in the United States with the Golden Coins group and especially like her gambling. She made many trips to Louisiana and Oklahoma.
Josie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orion (Koochie) W. Plummer, Jr., brother Garnel (Red) Beard, sisters Geneva Shepperd and husband Elmer and Doris Willard and husband Elva and nephew Bo Bane.
She is survived by her niece, Linda A. Bane of Groesbeck; nephew, Bill Beard and wife Martha of La Porte; nieces, Martha Green and husband Bobby of Mexia, Kathy Oberholtzer and husband Glen of League City and Judy Gauntt and husband Glynn of Mexia as well as numerous great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins. A special token of gratitude goes to her caretakers, Elaine, Erica, Pam and Erica.
