Larry Allen Thompson, of Groesbeck, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Parkview Hospital in Mexia, at age 72. Larry was born February 9, 1946 in Waco to Kenneth Thompson and Icey Mazelle (Robinette) Thompson. With his Dad's work, the family traveled while he was growing up, eventually settling in Waco where he attended school. He was a wonderful older brother (by twelve years) to Gary, providing almost all of his care for many of his younger years. Larry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, from 1964 to 1969; and then served in the Merchant Marines from 1970 through 1972. He lived in the Houston area for many years where he worked in construction installing sheetrock. Larry was a barber for forty-one years. After moving back to Groesbeck in 1992 he barbered in a shop in Groesbeck and then operated his own barber shop on Highway 14 for many years. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Mazelle and an older brother, Kenneth Thompson. He is survived by his children: daughter, Theresa Thompson of Temple; son, Christopher Thompson of Chicago, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Chelsea and Matthew Arnold of Richardson; and daughter and son-in-law, Brandi and Jay McCrary of Montgomery; five grandchildren: Krystal Neuman Collier, Billy Allen Neumann, Bailey Arnold, Nathan Arnold, and Paige McCrary; three great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Denise Thompson of Missouri; and his ex-wife, Brenda Thompson of Groesbeck.No services are scheduled; however, memories and messages of condolence may be posted on the guestbook.
