Leonard Gamez passed away at the hospital in Groesbeck on Friday, October 2, 2020, at age 52.
The family will gather for services at St. George Catholic Church in George West, TX. on Friday, October 9, 2020, with visitation beginning at 2:00. Rosary will begin at 3:30 p.m. and Mass at 4:00 P.M., by Father Romeo Salinas.
Leonard was born April 14, 1968 in San Benito to Delfino Gamez and Elodia Chapa Gamez, the youngest of 14 children in the family.
He lived in San Benito until he married, and lived later at different periods of time in Spring, TX, Virginia and California, and had previously lived for some time in Groesbeck. He had moved back to Groesbeck the past month to live with his sister and brother-in-law, following surgery. Leonard worked a variety of different jobs in his life including ranch work . He loved sports, loved to sing, and loved to laugh (he was a real joker.) He had 2 children and was very happy to recently meet his young granddaughter.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Arnulfo; brothers, Orlando Gamez and Adolfo Gamez; sister, Agapita Moreno; and niece Priscilla Zamaro.
He is survived by his son, Leonard Gamez Jr. of Carrollton; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Charles Thompson of Carrollton; granddaughter, Nicole Rose Thompson of Carrollton; and brothers and sisters and their spouses: Amador and Sylvia Hinojosa of San Benito, Nora Cohea and husband Monico Cantu of Groesbeck, Delfino and Linda Gamez of San Benito, Belinda and Ernesto Zamora of Los Banos, CA, Abel and Abelia Gamez of George West, Ruben and Alicia Gamez of Harlingen, Patricia and Ricardo Morales of San Benito, Roel and Christi Gamez of Tilden, and Teresa Gamez of San Benito; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
