Luisa "Lou" Lopez

June 2, 1950 — July 20, 2024

Groesbeck

Luisa “Lou” Lopez, of Groesbeck, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at age 74.

Lou was born on June 2,1950, to Lucio Ybarra, Sr. and Matilde Rodriguez Ybarra in Groesbeck, where she grew up and attended school. She was born in the same house where she later passed away.

Lou married and had a daughter and son before she began working on her own.

Surrounded by her dad and three brothers, she trained to defend herself. Her weapon of choice was a knife. She was “beautiful but deadly,” and not scared of anything.

During her working years, she worked at Hobbs Bonded Fibers, in Quality Control as an inspector. She was a “people person” and very friendly. She traveled through the years to Dallas and to Houston managing bars. Her father had taught her to love fishing and how to play pool. She was a very independent woman always ready for the next adventure. With her wittiness and expressive gestures, she always could make you smile and laugh.

Lou retired and moved back home to Groesbeck to take care of her mother throughout the rest of her mother’s life. She enjoyed gardening and grew beautiful flowers. Her cat and her dogs were her dear companions.

Luisa was preceded in death by her parents, and two of her brothers, Librado Ybarra and Lucio Ybarra, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Seledonia “Sally Ann” Palomin and her husband, Mario Palomin; son, Daniel “Boone” Rosales and his wife, Marlene Rosales; brother, Lionardo “Leo” Ybarra and his wife, Virginia Ybarra; sister/sister-in-law, Isaura “Chub” Ybarra; five grandchildren, Christina Ortiz, Arica Ramirez, Miranda Rosales, Leeza Rosales, and Ethan Palomin; and 11 great grandchildren.

The family respectfully requests that no flowers be purchased.
