Lynn J. Bennett, Jr., of Kosse, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 at Scott & White Hillcrest in Waco, at age 89.
Lynn was born February 23, 1930 in Marlin to Lynn J. Bennett, Sr. and Marguarette (Nance) Bennett. He attended Mart schools and graduated from Mart High School in 1948.
Lynn served our country in the US Army for two years during the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army Reserves in 1960.
Lynn J. (or Sonny as everyone called him) lived around Marlin and Kosse all his adult life. He had attended Texas A&M and was in veterinary school earlier in life, and he remained interested in caring for animals. He helped his father on the ranch and then ran it after his father’s death, and was very interested in the horses and cattle. He was a realtor for a period in the nineties until he retired. Sonny was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Marlin.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Jim Bennett and sister, Jeannette; and sons, Richard Bennett and Donnie Bennett.
Lynn is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Carolyn Bennett of Thornton, John and Sharon Bennett of Australia; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Marsh of Tennessee and Debbie and Eddie Moore of Texarkana; sister-in-law, Linda Bennett of Leaky; thirteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren.
