Marina Isabel Guzman Cruz, 55, of Groesbeck, Texas, left us on August 5, 2024, in La Union, El Salvador.

Born on September 11, 1968, in La Union, El Salvador, Marina was the beloved daughter of Maria Guzman and Petronilo Benitez. In 1993, she immigrated to the United States, where she pursued her dreams and opened Mi Rancho Mexican Restaurant on August 11, 2003, in Groesbeck, Texas. Her restaurant quickly became a beloved staple of the community.

In 1982, Marina met Richard Cruz in El Salvador, and together they built a beautiful life. They were blessed with three children: Dinora Guzman Barco, David Guzman, and Moises Guzman.

Marina was preceded in death by her parents, Maria Guzman and Petronilo Benitez, and her brothers, Santos Benitez and Rafael Guzman. 

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Richard Cruz, and her three children, Dinora, David, and Moises. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Baltazar Barco, and her five cherished grandchildren: Daniel, Santiago, Giovanny, Marisol Barco, and Baby Barco on the way. Marina's memory will also live on in the hearts of her surviving siblings, Heriberto Guzman, Antonio Guzman, Julio Guzman, Rosalio Guzman, Adriana Guzman, Santos Concepcion, Jesus Sorto, Carmen Alvarez, and Maria Diaz.


A service to honor Marina's life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Marquez for a family-led memorial on Saturday, August 17, 2024, beginning at 3:00 p.m. and continuing through the night, until 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Burial will follow in Faulkenberry Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to her husband Richard or daughter Dinora to assist with funeral expenses.

Arrangements will be conducted by Groesbeck Funeral Home but there will be no services, visitation, or events at the funeral home.

Nacida el 11 de septiembre de 1968 en La Unión, El Salvador, Marina era la amada hija de María Guzmán y Petronilo Benítez. En 1993, emigró a los Estados Unidos, donde persiguió sus sueños y abrió el restaurante mexicano Mi Rancho el 11 de agosto de 2003 en Groesbeck, Texas. Su restaurante rápidamente se convirtió en un elemento querido de la comunidad.

En 1982, Marina conoció a Richard Cruz en El Salvador y juntos construyeron una hermosa vida. Fueron bendecidos con tres hijos: Dinora Guzmán Barco, David Guzmán y Moisés Guzmán.

Marina fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres, María Guzmán y Petronilo Benítez, y sus hermanos, Santos Benítez y Rafael Guzmán. Marina deja atrás a su devoto esposo, Richard Cruz, y a sus tres hijos, Dinora, David y Moisés. También le sobreviven su yerno, Baltazar Barco, y sus cinco queridos nietos: Daniel, Santiago, Giovanny, Marisol Barco y Baby Barco en camino. El recuerdo de Marina también vivirá en los corazones de sus hermanos sobrevivientes, Heriberto Guzmán, Antonio Guzmán, Julio Guzmán, Rosalio Guzmán, Adriana Guzmán, Santos Concepción, Jesús Sorto, Carmen Álvarez y María Díaz.

Se llevará a cabo un servicio para honrar la vida de Marina en la Primera Iglesia Bautista de Márquez para un memorial dirigido por la familia el sábado 17 de agosto de 2024, a partir de las 3:00 p. m. y durante la noche, hasta las 8:00 a. m. del domingo 18 de agosto de 2024. El entierro seguirá en el cementerio de Faulkenberry. En lugar de flores, la familia solicita amablemente que se hagan donaciones a su esposo Richard o a su hija Dinora para ayudar con los gastos del funeral.

Los arreglos estarán a cargo de Groesbeck Funeral Home, pero no habrá servicios ni velatorios en la funeraria.
