Marvin Wayne Bice of Groesbeck passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at age 69.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 20, 2019 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Jon Honea officiating.
Marvin was born to Marvin Lee Bice and Helen Louise Horton Bice on August 19, 1950 in Houston. The family moved to Red Oak when he was 9, and he grew up there and graduated from Red Oak High School in 1968.
Marvin was united in marriage with Debby Lee Taber on July 7, 1982 in Marlin. They met at the “Town Door” bar in Marlin, where Debby lived. His four boys and her two children became a new large family. Marvin and Debby continued to live in Marlin until moving to Lake Limestone twenty years ago.
Marvin was a naturally skilled mechanic all his life. He worked on cars, trucks, motorcycles, and anything else he could take apart, including computers. If he could take it apart, he could fix it and put it back together. He even taught his daughter how to work on her own car. Although he had worked a few years earlier in his life on an oil rig, and other mechanic jobs, later in life he worked at the Army Air Force Exchange in Waco for ten years, as a forklift mechanic, until retiring about eight years ago.
He liked riding a motorcycle all his life. Also, he had taught himself how to use and repair computers. He enjoyed using his computer, and enjoyed playing the hardest games the most. After his retirement, he continued to take apart and work on anything needing repairs, and repaired many computers for family and friends. He did have to take time however, to take his dog Patty walking at the park at the lake almost every day. When she saw him put his boots on, she was ready to go with Marvin.
Marvin was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife Debby Lee Bice of Groesbeck; his mother, Helen Louise Bice of Ennis; three sisters, Patricia Smith and husband Roy Lee Smith of Oglesby, Deborah Mask of Palmer, and Sharon Young of Ennis; six children: son and daughter-in-law, Marvin “Bubba” and Darlene Bice of Alaska; son, Clifford Lee Hullett on Groesbeck; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Nicole Bice of Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Donnie Lee and Trini Bice of Alaska; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa K. and Kevin Sanders of Groesbeck; and son, Kevin Bice of Alaska; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
