Marvin “Gip” James Gibson, 83, of Victoria, TX, passed away February 12, 2025.
He was born October 17, 1941, to Amos and Effie Mae Gibson in San Augustine County, TX. He married Linda Joyce O’Neal in 1969. They were married for 48 years, during which time they lived in Arlington, TX, and Victoria, TX. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, gardening, and sharing a good laugh. Beloved son, husband, father, and PopPop, he loved and was a constant support for his family.
Corporal Marvin James Gibson proudly served his country. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps on February 10, 1960, serving until he was honorably discharged on February 9, 1964.
He is survived by his daughter, Leah Gibson Sparks of Mansfield, TX; grandchildren, Caleb, Bethany, and Joel Sparks of Mansfield, TX, and Gray and Brooke Gibson of Yardley, PA; siblings, Thomas Gibson, Robbie Ainsworth, and Larry Gibson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda O’Neal Gibson; son, Scott Gibson; parents, Amos and Effie Mae Gibson; brother, Charles Gibson; and sister, Evie Merle Ellis.
A memorial service will be held in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 10:30 am.
