Mary Lou Magnole

Mary Lou Magnole, 79, of Thornton passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Groesbeck LTC.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston, TX.

Mary Lou was born in Holdenville, OK on December 29, 1945, to Redgel Homer and Edna Ruth (Lollis) Carlton. The family moved to Texas where she grew up and attended school. 

Mary Lou lived most of her life in Houston and worked at various type businesses, but her favorite was working at a dry-cleaning shop. She liked to be out in the public around people. She lived in Magnolia with her daughter, Tiffany and her family since 2012 following the death of her husband, and they have lived in Thornton, TX. for the past year. 

Gram had the heart of a blessed angel. She had so much love for her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, nieces and nephews – just all of her family.  She had two titles, MOM and Grammy (Gram for short, which was what everyone called her.) Her heart was always filled with love and she always had open arms. She could be stubborn, strong willed, or sweet, depending on what mood she was in at any certain time, but nevertheless, she was loved so much by so many. Sometimes the family would all laugh until they cried. If you met her, she was the sweetest person and she leaves the family with a lot of great memories.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Redgel and Edna Carlton; brothers, Gerald Dean Carlton (1985), Troy Don Carlton (1999), Darrell Eugene Carlton (2006), Jimmy Dale Carlton (2012), and Douglas Wade Carlton (2019), and her husband, Richard Magnole.

She is survived by her daughters, Tiffany and husband Mitchell Bettin of Thornton and Cherease and Steven Files of Huffman; son, Brian and wife Poppi Miller of Kodak, TN; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
