Micaela Carrera Benavides

Micaela (Carrera) Benavides, of Groesbeck, passed away at home on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at age 80.

Micaela was born in Mercedes, TX. on May 8, 1944, to Quirino Carrera and Dolores Gonzales Carrera. The family moved to California when she was 16.

Micaela was united in marriage with Ruben Benavides in 1960 and they lived in California where they raised three children. She worked seasonally in the grape fields and in the peach cannery. 

After Ruben had passed away in 2020, Micaela moved to Groesbeck, TX. with her son and daughter-in-law, Juan and Susan Benavides. Her fresh tamales were loved by her family, and her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. 

Micaela was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and her husband.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Juan and Susan Benavides of Groesbeck, TX, Diana and Robert Sanchez of Sanger, CA, and Roy and Martha Benavides of Kingsburg, CA. Her 4 grandchildren are Anthony, Tommy, Robbie and Jovana, and she has many great grandchildren, all of whom she loved. She is also survived by one brother, three sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
