Nita Sue Boehme

February 27, 1952 — April 14, 2023

McKinney

Nita Sue Boehme, age 71, formerly of Groesbeck, passed away on April 14, 2023 in Plano.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023, from 5-7 PM at the Groesbeck Funeral Home.

Funeral will be held on Monday, April 17 at 10:00 AM in the Groesbeck Church of Christ with Brother Richard Williams and Brother Clif Fox officiating.  Burial will follow at Fort Parker Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rick Williams, Lee Fogle, Brayden Fogle, Brandon Harlan, Steve Rhidenour and Matt Rhidenour.

Nita was born on February 27, 1952, in Groesbeck, TX to Alva and Juanita Shreve, one of five girls.   She graduated from Groesbeck High School in the Class of 1970. She started working for Richard Williams in the Church of Christ office while she was still in high school.

Nita was “chased” in Groesbeck by a young man from Mexia, until he won her love, and Nita was united in marriage with Michael Boehme on June 15, 1973.   They moved to Waco where Michael was employed, and Nita worked at Farm Bureau in Waco for eight years, and then took time off to be home with the children.

In 1983, after their two children were old enough to start school, Nita and Michael moved back to Groesbeck and built their house, so their children could attend Groesbeck schools. Nita loved taking her mother to Chris’ ballgames and taking her to eat at Church’s chicken.

Nita was baptized in the Church of Christ at Groesbeck as a young girl and was a faithful member all her life, along with her mother and sisters.   After she had children, anytime the church doors were open, she and the kids were there.   Nita had a beautiful soprano voice and was a wonderful part of the congregational singing.

Nita went back to work for Richard Williams as the church secretary after they moved back to Groesbeck.  She served in many ways, including singing with others at funerals, and she and her mother and sisters, Lola and Jerry could always be counted on for serving in the kitchen for church meals and for funerals.   After Nita had back surgery, she shared the secretary duties with Sondra Williams for five years, and then retired to spend more time with Michael camping.  Nita enjoyed camping and playing cards with her friends and family.  They camped at Lake Belton and Lake o’ the Pines with 8 couples, and even shared their catch at a couple of fish fries for the Groesbeck congregation.

Nita and her best friend, Sharree Stewart enjoyed time together, including the ladies’ retreats they started for their church sisters, and after Nancy Nelson moved to Groesbeck, the three had good times together.

However, Nita's favorite thing to do was spend time with her grandchildren.   She loved watching them participate in high school band and going to all of their baseball, softball, basketball, and volleyball games, and visiting their homes.

In 2019, Nita and Michael moved to McKinney to be nearer their children and grandchildren.  To know Nita was to know her passion for purple and that she was an avid collector of owls, as well as to know of her devotion to the Lord and her family.

Nita is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jerry Shreve, Lola Shreve and Carol Fogle.

She is survived by her husband Michael Boehme; daughter, Michele McGilvray and son-in-law Stephen of McKinney, Tx; son, Christopher Boehme and daughter-in-law Candace of Allen, Tx; grandchildren Mason, Caden, Kaylee, and Brady McGilvray of McKinney and Cody and Carter Boehme of Allen; one sister, Peggy Shreve of Waco.
