Pat Thomas Clancy

Pat Thomas Clancy passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Brixton at Horseshoe Bay, age 84.

Visitation at Groesbeck Funeral Home on Sunday, September 15, 2024, will begin at 1:00 prior to the funeral services.

Funeral services will follow, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Clif Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Faulkenberry Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Don Beed, Mark Clancy, Steven Clancy, Mark Kuenstler, Matt Kuenstler, and Kelley McCutcheon.  E. J. Wilson will be an honorary pallbearer.

Pat was born September 30, 1939, in Laredo, TX., to L.B. Clancy Jr. and Willie Mae (Wilson) Clancy. The family moved to various towns in Texas, due to his father’s work with Magnolia Pipeline, while Pat was growing up. In high school, Pat played baseball and basketball, and his senior year he was Captain of the basketball team and President of the National Honor Society. He graduated in 1958 from South Park High School in Beaumont. 

Pat attended Texas A&M and the University of Houston Law School. After a career in banking, Pat worked for the IRS for several years before retiring to Spicewood, TX. He owned a ranch in Mason, raising cattle and deer. Pat only allowed his friends to hunt the deer. 

Pat was blessed with wonderful friends throughout his life and as his health declined in the last few years, several of his good friends assisted him in the care of the ranch. 

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Willie Mae Clancy and his sister, Jeanne Clancy Brelsford and her husband, Ron Brelsford.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Larry Dan “Danny” Clancy and wife Susan; nephews, Steven Clancy, Mark and wife Kami Clancy, and their children, Kyla, Ayden and Keenan Clancy.
